Bagong Kaalaman

Several people I know have recently been through bad breakups. The kind of breakups that involve a suspected third party, cheating, lying and the classic, falling out of love.

And apparently, neither age nor previous experience has anything to do with making it any easier. I always assumed it wouldn’t hurt as much since you’ve been through it before.

Like Funnygirl#2 said, “it hurts each time”. It doesn’t matter if it happens when you’re 19 or when your 30. Neither does it matter if it happens to be your first real relationship or your 5th.

It hurts, stings and based on a vague recollection, it feels like your heart has broken into a million pieces and you’re trying in vain to put the pieces back together but soon you realize, it can’t be done. (Well, not immediately anyway)

Sure, it’ll heal. It will get better. It will come to an end but it’ll never be the same. The scar will still be there. Which is what you later on get to appreciate. It makes you who you are. It allows you to better appreciate your own existence. It makes you more aware. It makes you more human. It makes you more acceptable of change. It makes you realize that life does get better over time and that you will bounce back eventually.

So yeah, while you’re in the getting over you stage, every single love song feels like someone taking a swing at your heart, the last conversation you had suddenly gets over analyzed for the nth time, after a few days, the next few words that you both exchange gets misconstrued & the agonizing pain never seems to end and when you’re alone with your thoughts you feel like any second you’re going to explode. You get all choked up, you cry, you question yourself over and over again, you deny, you hate, your write feverishly, you get tired, you pray for it to just end...

And then, one day, it gets a little more bearable. Everything gets to be a little bit clearer. You get to know yourself a little better and you stay guarded for the most part until you enter into that old familiar routine once again. Finally, you get to move on which is always a good thing. Actually, it’s wonderful.
