Milenyo Mayhem

Thursday was most definitely an interesting day to say the least. I came to work quite early. The lights kept on blinking but of course, as always, the pc's were still on. I had to take the stairs after buying breakfast from Mcdo coz the elevators were just too dangerous. When my Lead advised me that I could go home if I wanted to, I did only to be faced with harsh winds, my car shaking uncontrollably & bad traffic along Ayala. I was half expecting a car to fly by but thankfully, that didn't happen... to me. I HAD to meet up with B at G4 (since they didn't have a generator that could last forever unlike PS) so I took alternative routes, narrowly escaping the fallen branches and flying debris along the way.

When I got to Glorietta, a tree partially blocked the parking entrance leading towards G4 so I had to improvise. Along with the other vehicles, we had to enter the parking area by moving in reverse ever so slowly despite the wind, the flying tarps and all. Don't ask me how I did it. I just did. It was after all, almost 1pm and B kept on telling me to just find the nearest parking. I don't think he realized that I was literally in the eye of the storm and I could feel my heart racing every time the wind tried to knock down my car! Thank goodness I had my camera.

So in memory of my rendezvous with Milenyo, below is what remains of my experience. Next time, I’ll know better. I'll do an Ann. I'll call in!

Hungry!

I got this from kitchiegurl, my foodie partner. What I way to start the week!

How do you like your eggs?Poached,or scrambled with lots of melted cheese and fresh mushrooms.
How do you take your coffee/tea: Both with milk. Half and half preferred. Coffee with sugar and Tea with honey.
Favorite breakfast foods: Poached Eggs, Bacon from Chef’s Pride, Fried Rice and Fresh OJ. The best!
Peanut butter: Super Crunchy! The more crunch the better!
What kind of dressing on your salad? I did an experiment on this before when I was in my Goolai ordering phase. I prefer creamy dressings over vinaigrette. If from Goolai, the better.
Coke or Pepsi? Coke.
You’re feeling lazy. What do you make? Fried Rice & Bacon.
You’re feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order? Pepperoni Pizza from Dominos or Pizza Hut’s cheese stuffed crust pizza.
You feel like cooking. What do you make? Baked garlic bread, Tempura vegetable fritters or baked baby potatoes, zucchini, asparagus & carrots, mushroom risotto and crème brulee. Ayos!
Do any foods bring back good memories? We had lots of sugpo when my family went to Laguna. Sarap!, Chicken Inato at Cebu, In Singapore, they have this place that’s similar to soup kitchen (I think it’s called Soup Spoon) where they have the best wild mushroom soup ever and of course, Chicken Tandoori at Mustafa! In Canada, during lunch, I’d order a Portobello sandwich & after training, Ann & I would eat out and order lobster, nachos with artichoke dip, sweet n spicy chicken wings and bellini's! Thank goodness for per diem!
Do any foods bring back bad memories? At Singapore, Christmas Eve 1998, we ate at this pizza place at the lower level of Raffles City. The food was fine, it’s what transpired during that evening that wasn’t. I had to walk back to the hotel alone.
Do any foods remind you of someone? Gorgonzola reminds me of Kitch (she taught me how to make pasta with it), Coffee reminds me of Flora. She would literally eat coffee granules out of the bottle. Yikes! Siopao reminds me of my sister, who to this very day, refuses to eat siopao na may palaman.
Is there a food you refuse to eat? Anything that I find too exotic and that includes frogs, crickets and the like.
What was your favorite food as a child? According to my Mom, biscuits with vegemite which I no longer like. What I do remember is steak & kidney pie and Twisties!
Is there a food that you hated as a child but now love? Veggies I think.
Is there a food that you loved as a child but now hate? I guess Vegemite.
Favorite fruit & vegetable: Stawberries, lemons, potatoes, broccoli and squash.
Favorite junk food: Potato Chips and Twisties!
Favorite between meal snack: Sandwich or Fries.
Do you have any weird food habits: On my plate, I don’t like eating 2 types of meat at a time. Say it’s a buffet, and I have on my plate fish, chicken and beef, I’d eat each one at a time but never together on a single serving.
You’re on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on? Veggies and fruits.Anything whole wheat.
How spicy do you order Indian/Thai? Mild
Can I get you a drink? Water or Iced tea.
Red wine or white? Any but I prefer my Red wine sweet. As for the white wine, I like them all!
We only have beer: I’m not really a “beer” person but I tried Cervesa Negra once and liked it.
Favorite dessert? Ice cream-Gelato-Sorbet. Lemon Sorbet at Amici is just heaven.
The perfect nightcap? A glass of milk and good old late night TV.

Best Days

I’ve finally done something I’ve always wanted to do for the longest time in my whole adolescent life! I’ve finally learned how to FORGET. I’m pretty sure the morphine epidural had something to do with it but nevertheless, I’m simply ecstatic! Forget about what? SECRET... (kase I can’t remember na nga diba?)

The latest update is that this is the song that Rafe responds to… well, it’s not as if he has a choice in the matter! Perhaps it’s because his Mom and Dad got so engrossed (as a form of relaxation before sleeping) that every time he hears the song before the commercial break, he stops what he’s doing, looks up at his Mom who’s singing along and then he breaks into a smile… well more of a smirk and then he continues to eat all his toys.

But if you really read the lyrics, you’ll find how beautiful the song really is. I never really realized it until an officemate of mine printed it out. (And after countless repeat performances at Redbox) So, I’m not crazy and I’m not jologs either. (heller? How can I be? I’m social!...ang labo!) I just appreciate beautiful things. Lintik lang ang hinde.

Kung minsan ang pangarap
Habambuhay itong hinahanap
Bakit nga ba nakapagtataka
'Pag ito ay nakamtan mo na
Bakit may kulang pa

Mga bituin aking narating
Ngunit langit ko pa rin ang iyong piling
Kapag tayong dalawa'y naging isa
Kahit na ilang laksang bituin
'Di kayang pantayan ating ningning

CHORUS 1
Balutin mo ako ng hiwaga ng iyong pagmamahal
Hayaang matakpan ang kinang na 'di magtatagal
Mabuti pa kaya'y maging bituing walang ningning
Kung kapalit nito'y walang paglaho mong pagtingin

CHORUS 2
Itago mo ako sa lilim ng iyong pagmamahal
Limutin ang mapaglarong kinang ng tagumpay
Sa piling mo ngayon ako'y bituing walang ningning
Nagkukubli sa liwanag ng ating pag-ibig

Ranting...

Grrr... Work never fails to amuse me, yet again. He's been getting on my nerves again with his nonsense one liners such as the following:

"I don't know, I've never done that"- That's why you ask...but alas, you never do.
"I created a report for that"- Actually, I already created one which I informed you of. You just wanted to complicate things by creating your own and then sharing it to people who aren't interested.
"You'll miss me some more"- Can I puke now? Agaw eksena! If you gotta go, just go! Now na...

Give me the strength...
